Primary Responsibilities
- Data Entry & Coding: Accurately process and key ambulance transport information by importing run reports from ESO software daily.
- Compliance Checks: Assign the correct ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT codes required for clean claims submission and rapid payment processing.
- Insurance Verification: Verify insurance sourcesโincluding Medicare, Medicaid, and private insuranceโand submit billing files daily.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Maintain open lines of communication and interface regularly with various hospitals, nursing facilities, and surrounding hospices to ensure proper documentation flow.
Eligibility Criteria
To excel in this role, applicants must possess a mix of specific educational backgrounds and billing office competencies:
- Required Education: A high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) credential is required.
- Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working directly with medical terminology, emergency medical services (EMS) coding, or specialized medical billing services.
- Software Proficiency: Proven skill in high-volume data entry, spreadsheets, word processing, and file maintenance programs.
- Core Competencies: Ability to rapidly and accurately compute figures, prepare reports on delinquent or current accounts, and follow strict oral/written regulatory guidelines.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
- Certification: Holding a Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) certification is strongly preferred, though not strictly mandatory for initial hiring.
