Zoom Data Center Support Technician (Remote, Virginia)
Zoom is hiring a Data Center Support Technician on a Virginia remote seat, with listed pay of $35.24 – $81.49 an hour. This is hands-on infrastructure work at Zoom — not an all-US laptop work-from-home job. You need to live in Virginia, work in a data center environment, and handle physical hardware.
If you already know servers, networking basics, and ticketing, this is a named-brand tech ops seat with a wide hourly range and full-time hours. Immigration sponsorship is not available.
Job Overview
- Company: Zoom
- Position: Data Center Support Technician (R18719)
- Location: Remote (Virginia, United States) — live in VA; on-location data center support
- Job type: Full-time
- Pay: $35.24 – $81.49 an hour
- Experience: About 2–3 years related, or a related certificate/degree
Primary Responsibilities
The posting is a working technician role, not a remote helpdesk-only seat. Day to day you will keep Zoom’s data center environment running and support the teams that depend on it.
- Work tickets in JIRA and follow diagnostic methods for data center infrastructure
- Support Network Engineering, SysAdmin, and Project Management on required data center work
- Manage hardware asset tags and complete quarterly and year-end audits with Finance
- Repair servers (hard drives, SIM, fiber SFP, cabling, and related parts)
- Partner with Telco Provisioning on cross-connect orders, LOA/CFA validation, and onsite circuit test and turn-up
- Give on-location hardware and infrastructure support for special projects
- Produce status reports on utilization, progress, downtime, performance, and costs
- Manage spare-part inventory, including packaging and shipping parts to other data center sites
- Keep the data center environment and guest procedures to published operating guidelines
Eligibility Criteria
Required / looking for (from Zoom’s posting):
- 2–3 years in a related field, or a certificate/degree such as Industrial Technology, Computer Electronics and Networking Technology, or Information Technology
- Network fundamentals and computer hardware troubleshooting
- Previous experience with datacenter equipment including console, KVM, and power control
- Familiarity with JIRA
- Customer-focused communication and independent judgment under shifting priorities
- Proficiency with Google GSuite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
- Ability to work shifts that may include nights, holidays, and some weekends
- Ability to lift up to 75 lb
- Must be able to work in Virginia; sponsorship is not available
This is a mid-level, physical tech ops role. If you want a fully remote CS/VA laptop job with no lifting and no data center floor time, this listing is not that. Zoom is clear that work style is indicated on the posting — this one is listed Remote in Virginia, with on-location data center tasks.
The pay band is wide because Zoom uses a total direct compensation approach (base, plus possible bonus and equity) and a location-based structure. Starting pay depends on qualifications, skills, and experience. Do not treat the top of the range as a guaranteed offer.
Why Choose Zoom
Zoom builds the collaboration platform used by enterprises worldwide — Zoom Phone, Contact Center, Rooms, Webinars, and more. Engineering Operations keeps that infrastructure reliable. For a technician who already works with servers and network hardware, this is a chance to do that work at a company people actually recognize.
Zoom describes a collaborative engineering-operations team, structured hybrid/remote/in-person work styles by role, and a benefits program aimed at physical, mental, and financial health. The posting also flags fair-chance hiring. Read the live Zoom careers page for the current benefits package — do not assume extras that are not listed.
How to Apply
If you live in Virginia, can work data center shifts (including nights and weekends when needed), and already troubleshoot servers and network gear, apply on Zoom’s careers site while the req is open. Zoom lists an anticipated close date of 08/22/26 and says it keeps the window open at least five days. Use the official listing, match your resume to JIRA, hardware repair, and on-location support, and be honest about lifting and shift flexibility.
