Eligibility Criteria

To excel in this role, candidates must bring a seasoned corporate communications background and a native comfort with fast-paced, high-growth technology settings. Waymo requires a minimum of 15+ years of experience across internal or corporate communications fields, with at least 3+ years of dedicated people management experience leading mid-to-senior level professionals. You must have a proven track record of translating dense, complex technical subject matter (such as AI, robotics, or complex engineering) into accessible, clear content that lands effectively with multi-faceted internal audiences.

Furthermore, direct experience supporting C-suite executives through organizational changes, complex business pivots, and speechwriting is essential. Candidates should possess a demonstrated history of organizing large-scale corporate events, such as global All-Hands meetings or internal product launches, for an expansive workforce of at least 1,000+ employees across multiple geographical locations. Mastery over modern communication tech stacksโ€”specifically internal intranets, email marketing platforms, and collaborative chat ecosystemsโ€”is required to successfully track engagement KPIs and monitor workplace sentiment.

While not strictly required, preference will be given to communication leaders who possess direct experience within the mobility, autonomous vehicle, or robotics sectors, as this ensures an immediate grasp of unique safety and regulatory nuances. Candidates holding formal certifications in change management methodologies (such as Prosci or ADKAR) or those with a background working closely alongside PR and Legal teams during crisis communication scenarios are highly desired. Additionally, a passion for creative multimedia production (podcasts, video, visual design) and a history of building community through Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) will make your application stand out.

Additional Context & Team Culture

As a vital member of the Communications organization, you will find yourself surrounded by a collaborative, forward-thinking team dedicated to increasing the public understanding and adoption of life-saving autonomous technology. The work environment at Waymo seamlessly blends technical brilliance with empathetic, transparent storytelling, ensuring that employees are supported, celebrated, and unified in their collective mission. Operating out of the Mountain View headquarters on a hybrid schedule, you will enjoy a vibrant office culture, proximity to groundbreaking engineering milestones, and regular touchpoints with teams at the San Francisco office.
