Comprehensive Overview of the Remote Counselor Role
- Position Title: Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC)
- Employment Type: Part-Time / Full-Time / Contract
- Compensation Package: $80,400 to $82,800 per year
- Work Setting: Fully Remote (Outpatient Telehealth via Theranest)
- Operational Support: 100% covered billing, marketing, contracting, insurance credentialing, and client intake coordination
Core Clinical Responsibilities
- Diagnostic Assessments: Perform comprehensive initial clinical intake evaluations utilizing both ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to establish definitive mental health diagnoses by the second appointment.
- Evidence-Based Treatment: Facilitate individualized therapy sessions using established evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed care.
- Clinical Documentation: Efficiently record, complete, and sign medical progress notes within 72 hours of session completion, maintaining structural alignment with weekly Friday 9:00 PM network deadlines.
- Interdisciplinary Care Collaboration: Formulate structured safety plans, update client treatment objectives every 3โ4 months, and consult directly with client medication prescribers at minimum once every 4 months.
Candidate Qualifications & Professional Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must hold a Masterโs degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or an accredited, closely related behavioral health discipline. Candidates who have completed a structured internship or accumulated prior clinical experience in outpatient settings, inpatient psychiatric environments, or community health facilities are highly preferred.
An essential requirement for this role is holding an active or pending graduate-level professional counseling license or equivalent regulatory credential specifically within Maryland, Washington D.C., or Virginia. Demonstrable clinical proficiency in specializing in targeted treatment protocolsโsuch as OCD tendencies, anxiety disorders, complex PTSD, grief, attachment-based therapy, or autism spectrum disordersโis highly valued.
Additionally, candidates must maintain exceptional foundational knowledge of HIPAA regulations and digital healthcare security compliance. Strong foundational skills in crisis intervention, navigating regional community resource networks, formulating external medical referrals, and managing digital health records inside an electronic environment are required for regular daily success.
