Job Overview:
- Role: High Performance Computing Software Engineer (Scientist 2)
- Location: Los Alamos, NM (On-Site)
- Salary: $106,400 – $176,000 per year
- Focus: Multi-physics code development, software modernization, and algorithm optimization.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Research, develop, and optimize cutting-edge algorithms for massively parallel multi-physics codes.
- Implement advanced methods into production codes using industry-standard software engineering practices.
- Test and validate numerical models and support users in adopting new computational tools.
- Mentor junior staff, students, and postdocs to foster a collaborative technical environment.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Required: Bachelorโs degree in a STEM field and 4 years of related experience, or equivalent direct experience. You must demonstrate professional knowledge in software modernization and performance optimization.
- Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with massively parallel numerical development and deploying algorithms to heterogeneous architectures. You must have recognized proficiency in modern C++.
- Collaboration: A demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, coupled with the willingness to mentor and support co-workers.
- Preferred: Advanced degrees (MS or PhD) in applied mathematics, physics, or engineering. Proficiency in Fortran/C, C++ template metaprogramming, and experience with LANLโs mission and research environment are highly desirable.
